Dear PWN members and friends,
The Butterfly Effect …
Buenos dias and greetings from Guatemala!
I am down here in a tiny town on Lake Atitlan called San Luis Toliman as part of a volunteer medical mission. We are performing much needed surgeries on very needy children who have no hope of receiving this medical care without the donated services provided by volunteer groups. I have photos of the toys some of you donated to the children here along with their happy recipients and believe me, your generosity is most appreciated!
Your beautiful gifts made me remember something I have known for a long
time, that “Small changes have big effects.” I am sure you have heard this said before but did you know there is a name for this phenomenon? It is called the “butterfly effect” and it suggests that even the gentlest movement of a butterfly’s wings can cause a ripple in the wind on the other side of the world. Theoretically this is true. Practically speaking, it means that the tiniest gift, the smallest gesture or the gentlest voice has a huge impact, whether you are aware of it or not.
Every single thing you do, every donation you give, as well as every word you say has the ability to impact your immediate surroundings and possesses unlimited possibilities to affect people across boundaries of all kinds as well as across generations.
Come join us on March 22nd and listen to Carol Gold share a dynamic presentation on “200 Years of Women’s Voices” and celebrate the rich heritage these women gave us, one voice at a time.
I look forward to seeing each of you at the luncheon, and as you create your own “butterfly effect”; and know that you inspire me.
