President’s Message
Do you know where my ILM2756 is? Neither do I, and that’s the problem. My school desperately needs this form and I know it’s around here somewhere – undoubtedly hidden under some neat little pile on a flat surface within the house. Of course, that would require that there actually be a flat surface left in this house. A worse alternative is that it’s “somewhere in the garage.” My husband and I worry that our entire lives are “somewhere in the garage.” Looking for old tax returns? Extra cartons of Caffeine Free Diet Coke? Our “good” dishes, my mother’s family photos, a Halloween costume that I really am going to wear someday, my old Willie K CD collection, the phone number to order a ShamWow – they are all “somewhere in the garage.”
It’s probably a good thing that Cathy Lee is going to be our May 23 luncheon speaker. Cathy, Hawaii’s interior-design diva, is going to show us how to create spaces that generate success. That’s not a moment too soon for me! I wonder if she makes house calls?
May is a busy month for the Professional Women’s Network. Our annual Spa Day on May 11 at Amber Ricci’s house was absolutely amazing!! Between the facial exfoliation, reiki healing, iSLRS stress-reduction therapy, acupuncture, massages (plural!), foot reflexology, watercolor painting, aromatherapy, and a yummy lunch, I left feeling so pampered and relaxed that my poor husband had to practically pour me into the car. And I didn’t have time to sign up for even half of the free services that were offered. Each year Amber puts this event together and raises the money that supports our PWN scholarship fund. Hurray for Amber!
Then there is the luncheon at the Pacific Club on Thursday, May 23. You can get more info and sign up on the PWN Web site.
Could there be any more? Yes! On the following Wednesday, May 29, we are partnering with Social Wahines for a “Networking for Wahines” pau hana event at the YWCA on Richards Street in downtown Honolulu. The admission is free, and parking is available across the street at Ali`i Place, after 5 p.m., for a flat $3 fee. In addition to networking fun, there will be cocktail and pupu specials from Café Julia. If you’ve never been to a Social Wahines’ event, you’re in for a treat. RSVPs are a must, so that there is enough food, etc. but it’s easy to do: Just sign up at: NetworkingForWahines.eventbrite.com. And, don’t forget to tell them that you are a PWN member.
I’ve dragged this out long enough. I simply have to stop writing and enter the dark recesses of the garage to find my ILM2756 form. There’s no telling what I’ll come across out there; but I can assure you that there is one thing that garage will never see – a car. Bummer!
Happy May!
