“HOW VISIONING HELPS GROW A BUSINESS”
Starting with intimate chef-cooking events at local restaurants, Kathleen ‘Kat’ Lin-Hurtubise grew her business until she founded Gourmet Events Hawaii (GEH) in 2005. Her mission: To provide memorable events and exquisite hospitality. Annually, GEH now does more than 600 events for corporate and private clients, plus providing staffing for all Hawai`i Convention Center events. In 2016, in response to GEH’s events and hospitality staffing success, Staffing by GEH was born. with a commitment to elevate the hospitality industry – delivering excellence within service, whether a small, intimate dinner for 20 or a large, corporate event for 2,000+.
Kat says, “Growing a business can be a daunting experience – often hindered by common stressors and roadblocks. Over the years, I’ve found that using a technique called visioning has helped track a strategy for success. This is the experience of seeing a big picture of an intended end result. It’s an intentional visualization of what a goal or dream looks like. At GEH, we created an acronym strategy called “3HAG” (a 3-year Highly Achievable Goal) that we track collectively through visioning. It keeps us accountable and focused. The same technique can be used creatively to envision an event – from concept to execution and every detail in between.”
